Anoushka Shankar

Anoushka Shakar was the American and British sitarist. She was among the youngest and first female to win the British House of Commons Shield she has had 9 Grammy Awards nominations and was the first artist of Indian of Indian descent to perform live on stage and also act as a host at the awards ceremony. Anoushka Shankar is a rising young star of sitar music. Indian sitar. She is the student and daughter to Ravi Shankar. Born in London She spent her beginning of her career traveling between London and New Delhi. When she arrived in New Delhi, she made her first appearance at only 13 years of age. In 1999, she completed her high school studies within Encinitas CA. Anouskha's career as a musician and performer is impressive, despite her age. She performs regularly together with her dad, and has done so for quite a number of years. In 1998 she released her debut single album Anourag. It was followed by the album Live At Carnegie Hall, a Grammy-nominated album two years following. She's performed in all important venues across the world. Anoushka Shankar's work isn't limited to performing in music. Bapi the The Love of My Live, a biographical picture written in tribute to her father Ravi Shankar was published in 2002. in 2003 she starred in Dance Like a Man as an actress and Bharat Natyam dancer. The career of Anoushka Shankar is in the process of developing and she is expected to achieve great success in the near future. Anoushka was born in England, but spent most of her youth between London as well as Delhi. After that, she relocated to California and went to the high school. In Delhi during his birthday celebrations for his 75th birthday, Anoushka made her debut playing the sitar in front of the audience just four years after her 9-year-old father. Anoushka performed with her father during his world tour, gained an incredible quantity of knowledge. In her teenage years she appeared at Carnegie Hall as part of Peter Gabriel's WOMAD and recorded alongside George Harrison. She was the first woman to win the House of Commons Shield, presented by British Parliament to recognize her talent and musicianship in music and the Asian Arts.
